Instructions
The Future University library is one of the most important and useful locations for students to study and do research. Therefore, it is important that the library establishes and maintains an atmosphere that allows all users to work comfortably and conveniently without undue difficulty, noise, or distraction. To do so, rules of appropriate library conduct must be observed by everyone using the library.
Library Rules

Loud conversation is prohibited

To protect our books and other materials and equipment, it is forbidden to eat, smoke, and drink (except water from a closed container), in the library.

Sitting on desktops is prohibited

All mobile phones must be set to silent

Computers are provided for study and research only. The user should make sure he or she logs out before leaving so that the computer will be ready for the next user

Users found damaging books or other materials shall be fined

Books and any other library materials must be returned on due time to the library personnel at the circulation desk

Users are not allowed to reshelf books or any other library material
Computer and Internet use
The Internet, as an information resource, enables the Library to provide access to a vast array of information, ideas, commentary, and research tools beyond the confines of its own collection.
The library believes that the Internet's vast resources should be broadly available. All users of electronic information resources such as the Internet are expected to use these resources in a responsible manner, consistent with educational and informational purposes for which the library provides access, and subject to the following guidelines.

Internet resources may contain material of a controversial nature. Selection policies governing the library's purchase of materials are not applicable to material accessed electronically via the Internet. The library does not endorse any viewpoint represented on the Internet, nor attempt to control access to or content of materials, and cannot protect users from offensive information.

Library system menus may identify specific resources and starting points for research. However, the library cannot control access points, which can change rapidly and unpredictably.

The library reserves the right to impose time limitations on the use of library computers.

The library assumes no responsibility for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from the use of its computers and network facilities, or from connection to Internet services.
Guidelines for Access and Use:
It is unacceptable to use the library's computer system and Internet resources for any of the following:

For any purposes which violate any library or university policies, local or international laws.

Downloading or printing files and other resources obtained via the Internet in violation of applicable copyright laws and licensing agreements.

Downloading text files, software, executable files, databases, and similar "live" technology to library computer or network disk drives. The library reserves the right to regularly delete files from computer and network disk drives.

Destructing or damaging equipment, software, or data belonging to the library.

Distributing or interfering with network services. This includes, but is not limited to: propagation of computer viruses; excessive overuse of connection time or printing resources; attempting to add, modify, or remove system softwares or other system elements; attempting to evade system security measures or network access rights; distribution of unsolicited advertising; harassment, libeling, or slandering of others

Sending or receiving e-mails or to attending chat sessions

Disrupting of or interfering with other people using computers in the library. This includes, but is not limited to the harassment of others

Users should not display texts or graphics which may reasonably be construed as offensive
Infringements of the Guidelines:

Users who violating these guidelines will be advised by the Library's guidelines for use and asked to comply.

The Library reserves the right to punish users who repeat a violation of these guidelines after a previous warning by:

Being given a written warning

Having a network connection terminated
-
Being prohibited from any future access to or use of the library’s online services

Having all library privileges revoked
Computing in the Library:
Library users have access to computers via the library’s computer laboratories. The computer laboratory allows students and faculty members to:

Access resources on the World Wide Web.

Search the full-text of electronic books and journals
-
Use word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database programs
-
Students may reserve a workplace for a limited period by an advanced booking.
Ethics
Copyrights and Fair Use
Copyright laws were created to protect the interests of copyright owners with regards to public display, distribution, reproduction, and unauthorized use of their material. Most published material, as well as information obtained from Internet resources is protected by copyright laws to prevent misuse and theft. Fair use is a method that creates the balance between the owner's rights and the public's need to make use of their material, especially for educational needs.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the use of part or all of another person’s written work and submitting this as one's own work, without authorization or acknowledgement. Plagiarism is a violation of copyright law and is a violation of the library's code of conduct.
The library provides tutorial classes to instruct students on how to avoid plagiarism.
Plagiarism is a serious offense and penalties for plagiarism may include either deduction of grades or failing a course. If serious enough it may lead to probation or suspension from the university.
To avoid plagiarism one must make sure to use one’s own words, even when paraphrasing. Give credit to all material that has been directly copy from a source, such as others' opinions, theories or spoken and written words. Also any information and facts that are not considered common knowledge must be cited to avoid plagiarism.
When in doubt about how to cite others work, always seek assistance from the librarian.
Code of Conduct

Shouting, making any disruptive noise, and loud conversation are forbidden.

Using equipment likely to disturb or distract other readers or to damage library material (e.g. digital scanners, radios, personal hi-fi equipment, or computers to perform any of the functions of such machines) is not permitted in the library.

If mobiles are brought into the library, they must be switched off.

Students must respect the rights of other students regarding space and privacy.

Threatening or harassing other people either verbally or physically is prohibited.
-
Being in unauthorized areas of the library, remaining in the library after closing hours or when requested to leave, during emergency situations or otherwise, is prohibited.

Do not leave personal belongings unattended. Coats, umbrellas, bags, cases, cameras, and similar personal belongings shall be deposited in the locker area adjacent to the entrance hall during each visit to the library.

It is forbidden to conceal library materials in the library for the exclusive use of an individual or group.

Students must not damage any library material or property and must adhere to the library’s guidelines for access to and use of special, valuable, or fragile materials, such as archival holdings or photographs. Users found damaging books or other material shall be fined.

Ink, glue, correction fluid, and other potentially damaging substances shall not be brought into the library.

Writing on library material is not allowed.

Use of candles or other open flames is prohibited.

Computers are provided for study and research only. The user should make sure that he or she logs out before leaving so as the computer would be ready for the next user.

Tampering with library electronic equipment such as unplugging cables, wires, or making any adjustments without prior permission from library staff is prohibited.

Seating and furniture arrangement is limited to the number of persons for whom the furniture was designed. Rearrangement of equipment or furniture is prohibited without prior permission from library staff.

Sitting on desktops, running and climbing within the library or playing with artwork or displays is prohibited.

Sleeping and loitering in the building or outside of the building is prohibited.

Library staff hold the right to stop any activity in the library which they consider prejudicial to the saengineeringy, well-being, or security of readers or library staff, or to the preservation of the collections.

Books and any other library material must be returned on due time to the library staff at the circulation desk. Users are not allowed to reshelf books or any other library material themselves.

Students are forbidden to share any Future University ID, Alumni, or Visitor’s card to attempt any unauthorized use of library materials or electronic resources.

Library users must abide by copyright and licensing regulations. Violations of these can result in suspension or cancellation of access to the library.

Library users should report infringement of this code of conduct to library staff in order that appropriate corrective actions may be taken.
